平島鳥居の「祈玉」
勝浦の遠見岬神社には「お守り」や「おみくじ」の他に祈玉（いのりだま）
祈玉とは遠見岬神社にてご祈祷された石であり、こちらを平島の鳥居に投げて頂きます。
ご利益は主に海上安全・無病息災・勝負に勝つ・子授け・縁結び
Hirashima Tori Gate & the Tomisaki shrine "Wishing Stones"
Besides the regular rites which are common to any Shinto shrine, such as "omamori" (lucky charms) or "omikuji" (Fortune paper), there is also another unique local legend at Tomisaki Shrine in Katsuura, Japan that involves "Inori Tama" (Prayer Ball Stones or more widely known as Wishing Stones)
遠見岬神社は、勝浦商店街中心の山の上に建てられていてまるで勝浦を見守っているかの様なとても神秘的な神社です。
古くからの歴史がある神社となっており御祭神は天冨命（あまのとみのみこと）
The Wishing Stones (Inori-dama) are blessed and purified at the main Tomisaki Shrine which sits at almost the highest point overlooking the main town of Katsuura situated centrally on the Pacific coastline of Chiba prefecture.
八幡岬、こちらはかつて勝浦城があった場所です。 そしてそのすぐ下に浮かんでいる島が「平島」こちらに赤い鳥居が存在いたします。
But the real legend is the Red Torii Gate on "Hirashima" Island in the Sea found just off the coast at the northern point of the bay under Hachiman Miseki cliffs the home of the old town Castle.
遠見岬神社の名前の由来は、漢字が示す通り「遠くを見る岬」が由来だそうです。
今から約370年前ほど前に関東地方を襲った元禄地震による地盤沈下で神社が海に沈み、数年後に現在の高台に建てられたそうです。
海に沈んでしまった神社の名残を残すために、ここ平島に赤い鳥居を建てられたとの事です。
Hirashima is the spiritual place of "Amenotomi-no-Mikoto", the enshrined deity of Tomisaki Shrine.
The origin off Tomisaki Shrine name comes from the kanji (遠くを見る岬 ) meaning "a cape that looks into the distance".
About 370 years ago the original shrine was submerged in the sea due to ground subsidence caused by the Genroku earthquake that hit the Kanto region, some years later the red gate was built in its current location
平島の赤い鳥居に向かって祈玉を投げると願いが叶うと言われています。
地元ではパワースポットとして知られておりご利益は主に、強運・無病息災・子授け・縁結び・海上安全・勝運など多くのご利益があると言われており、多くの人が県外問わず訪れます。
It is believed that if you throw the wishing stone towards the red gate on Hirashima Island you can make a wish & it will be granted.
Local belief is its a strong power spot and many visit hoping to gain strength in, sound health, child giving, marriage, maritime safety, victory in battles, and education.
また、この祈玉は願いを込めて大切な人に贈ると願いが叶うとも言われています。
It is also known that if you give the wishing stone to someone else they will have their wishes granted.
平島の鳥居は、インスタグラムでも人気急上昇中！ 勝浦エリアに来たら絶対に訪れる価値があります。
潮位によっては島が見えなくなり、まるで鳥居だけが海に浮かんでいるよいうな時もあり、とても神秘的なスポットです。
12月〜４月までの間、日の出と日の入り時間は素晴らしい写真が撮れるので、特に人気があります。
The Wishing Stone Tori Gate is very much a rising Instagram hot spot, a uniquely Japanese site, and definitely worth the visit if you are in the Katsuura area. Depending on whether it's high or low tide, the gates may be partly submerged, Sunrise and Sunset time is especially popular during the winter season December through April due to the spectacular colour sky that can be seen while visiting.
